My Blog; Your Guide to What's New

Wednesday, October 16

It's been a week since my last blog posting and I've been working hard to get into the rhythm of the new job. The care and feeding of a website takes time — which a retiree has in abundance — and skills that are still in the development stage.

The blog is a kind of discipline that I'm not entirely comfortable with. While I've been struggling with fitting new headlines to restored reviews, a Canadian has won a Nobel Prize for Literature and the Americans seem on the brink of fiscal collapse and Congressional meltdown.

It seems like I should congratulate Alice Munro — she is one inspiring senior citizen — or say something insightful about the 21st-century tragedy unfolding in the U.S. That's what blogs are for, right?

The problem is that I haven't given a whole lot of thought to either topic. Like the fireman on a coal-powered railway engine, I've been spending all my recent energy just shovelling content into various sections of this website to get it up to running speed.

Yesterday's posting (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is now part of Reeling Back's history. Friday, a remake of Carrie opens everywhere, so we should look at the original film from 1976 and offer a package of other movies based on the works of Stephen King.

And, sometime after that, work on my blogging skills.
